Subhajit Basu

Dr. Subhajit Basu is professor of law and technology at the University of Leeds School of Law,  with a global reputation for his interdisciplinary research on the challenges digital technologies pose to society, particularly in the Global South. His work spans digital regulation, data privacy, AI governance, cybercrime, healthcare data, and social justice. He is the editor-in-chief of the International Review of Law, Computers and Technology and has published widely in leading journals. Professor Basu has held advisory roles for governments, international bodies, and think tanks, and was chair of the British and Irish Law Education Technology Association (2018–2021). He has led and contributed to major research projects funded by the EU, EPSRC, and international partners. Basu is committed to promoting responsible, inclusive digital governance and actively engages with policymakers, industry, and civil society to shape regulatory frameworks for emerging technologies and to ensure the protection and empowerment of digital users.
